This step by step diy project is about kitchen plans. This woodworking article features detailed instructions about building a rustic wooden kitchen table, along with detailed diagrams and a list with all the materials and tools needed for the project. There are many designs to choose from when building a kitchen table, so make sure you take a look over the related projects.

Align the wooden components at both ends before driving in the screws. Don’t forget to pre-drill holes in the components, as to prevent the wood from splitting. Moreover, don’t forget to countersink the head of the screws, before inserting the wooden screws. Last but not least, apply a good wood filler in the holes, let it dry out properly and sand the surface thoroughly with 120-grit sandpaper, before applying the final coats of stain. Building the sides of the table

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the sides of the kitchen table. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to build the components out of 2×4 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the aprons.

Top Tip: Make sure the corners are right-angled and check if the edges are perfectly flush. Add glue to the joints and insert 2 1/2″ screws into place. Repeat the process for the opposite side.

Building the frame of the table

The next step of the woodworking project is to build the frame for the kitchen table. In order to get a professional table, we recommend you to take accurate measurements and to make the cuts with a circular saw.

Drill pocket holes at both ends of the supports, make sure the corners are square and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the side aprons. Add glue to the joints and remove the excess with a damp cloth.

Fitting the corner braces

Fitting the corner braces

In order to enhance the rigidity of the structure, we recommend you to fit 2×4 supports to the four corners of the kitchen table. Therefore, cut both ends of the supports at 45 degrees and secure them to the frame of the table by using 2 1/2″ screws.

Before inserting the screws, we recommend you to make sure the corners are right-angled. Leave no gaps between the components.
