Deer Blind Plans 4×6

by Ovidiu

This step by step diy project is about deer blind plans 4×6. If you need a new hunting shelter, you should check out my newest plans for a lean to 4×6 shack. The structure is really sturdy and it features windows on all four sides. Moreover, the access is really easy to the interior, as you have a nice door to the back wall. You can even get the job done with hand tools! Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration.

When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a 4×6 deer stand

Building-floor-frame-deer-stand

Building-floor-frame-deer-stand

The first step of the project is to build the floor frame for the deer blind. Cut the joists from 2×4 or 2×6 lumber. Take accurate measurements and the align the joists with great care. Drill pilot holes through the rim joists and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components. Make sure the corners are square and align the edges flush.

Fitting the floor

Fitting the floor

Fit the 3/4″ plywood to the floor frame and align the edges flush. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 5/8″ screws through the floor into the joists.

Build the side walls from 2×4 lumber and 3 1/2″ screws. Cut all the components at the right dimensions and then lay them on a level surface. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs. Place the studs every 16″ on center and make sure the corners are square. As you can easily notice in the diagram, you need to frame the window opening.

Assembling the shed frame

Assembling the shed frame

Fit the wall frames to the floor of the hunting stand. Align the edges flush and then drill pilot holes through the bottom plates. Insert 3 1/2″ screws to secure the walls into place tightly. Use a spirit level to plumb the wall frames vertically. Next, you need to lock the adjacent walls together tightly with screws.

Remember that you need to apply a few coats of protective paint to the shelter, so you both make it low key and protect the components from decay. Furthermore, you can make adjustments to the shack so it suits your needs.

So i built this plan, and it seems really sturdy and heavy. Have you ever put this on a raised platform? I was going to put it about 6-8 ft high, but am concerned about the weight?

I have a slightly different build from how this one is done (2 actually) and have them 8′ in the air in Maine and have had zero issues with them being sturdy enough
