This step by step diy woodworking project is about tiered plant stand plans. The project features instructions for building a two tier plant stand with a crisp and modern design. You can use the plant stand both indoor and outdoor. The plant stand is designed in such a manner that you can use 10×10 tiles for the tops. Adjust the dimensions of the components to suit your needs, while using the techniques described in the article. The cost of the materials for this project should be less than 5 dollars.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Tiered Plant Stand Plans
The first step of the project is to build the frames for the supports. As you can easily notice in the diagram, you need to cut the components at the right dimensions from 1x2s or 1x3s. For 10×10 tiles, we recommend you to leave a 1/8″ clearance space on all edges. In this manner, you can fit and remove the tiles to the frames easily.
Drill pocket holes at both ends of the short components and secure them to the perpendicular pieces using 1 1/4″ screws. Add glue to the joints and make sure the corners are square.
Fit the tile to the frame and lay them over a level surface. Attach the 1×2 supports to the frame, as shown in the diagram. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the components and secure them to the frame using 1 1/4″ screws. Add glue to the joints. Repeat the process for the other shelf. Have in mind that you can paint/stain the components now, before attaching the legs.
The next step of the project is to attach the 1×2 legs to the frames. Make sure the corners are square before securing the legs to the frames. Determine the middle of the legs, as well as the middle of the frames. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws from the inside of the frames. In this manner, the head of the screws will be hidden by the tile tops.
Fit the 10×10 tiles to the tiered plant stand. If you want to lock the tiles into place, you could use epoxy glue.
One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-200 grit sandpaper. Don’t forget that you can adjust the dimensions of the two tier plant stand to your needs.
Top Tip: If you want to enhance the look of the project and to protect the wooden project from decay, we recommend you to cover the components with paint or stain.
