14×14 Lean to Shed Roof Plans

by Ovidiu

This step by step diy project is about 14×14 shed roof plans. This is PART 2 of the storage shed project, where I show you how to build the lean to roof for the project. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration. Remember that you need to select the site for the shed with attention and that you have to comply with a few legal regulations.

When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Building a lean to roof for a 14×14 shed

Building-the-rafters

Building-the-rafters

The first step of the project is to build the rafters for the shed using 2×10 lumber. Mark the cut lines on the beams and then get the job done with a circular saw. Smooth the edges flush with sandpaper.

Fit the rafters to the top of the 14×14 storage shed, every 16″ on center. Use rafter ties to lock the rafters into place tightly.

Fitting the side supports

Fitting the side supports

Fit the 2×4 supports to the sides of the lean to roof. Cut the supports at the right angle and size and then drill pocket holes at both ends. Insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the supports into place tightly.

Side lean to panels

I would like one double door and a window
at the front.

Should I put some type of patio stone to rest my 4×4 skids

Thank you
