DIY Outhouse

Our off-this-grid piece of land needed a solution for us to stay there for longer periods. It will take only a few times to do your thing in a hole in the ground ;). We collect our waste for composting together with other waste (Check out the Humanure Handbook by Joseph Jenkins if you’re interested) and needed an outhouse for it.

I found the outhouse plans and started building. The plans were clear and accurate. I don’t know the exact price of the materials but it can’t be more than a few hundred euros. I used second-hand treated lumber of a fence for the siding. The rest of the materials were bought. We used an old window to give a nice view and some more light inside.
