This step by step diy project is about gambrel doors plans. This is PART 3 of the 8×16 gambrel shed project, where I show you how to build the frond single door and the side double doors. In addition, I give you a suggestion regarding the trims, so you can enhance the look of the project. Moreover, I have designed shed with many sizes so check them out, as well. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a gambrel shed door
Attach the 1×4 trims around the large opening. Align the edges with attention and secure the trims into place with 2 1/2″ screws.
Build the double doors using the information from the diagram and using the same techniques described above.
Fit the double doors to the opening and secure them to the jambs with hinges. Install a latch so you can lock the doors securely.
The first step of the project is to build the small door for the gable shed. As you can seen in the diagram, you need to use the panel that you have cut out from the panel. Use 1×4 lumber for the trims. Use glue and 1 1/2″ screws to lock the trims to the door panel.
Fit the 1×4 jambs around the small door opening and lock it into place with 2 1/2″ screws. Make sure you align the edges flush for a professional result.
Fit the side door to the opening and align it with attention. Use hinges and a latch to lock the door into place tightly.
Fit 1×4 trims to the corners and to the front of the barn shed. Align the components with attention and use 2″ nails to lock the trims into place tightly.
If you look at at the barn shed from one side, the constructions has a neat appearance and it will blend in perfectly in any decor.
As you can see in the diagram, you need to attach 1×4 trims to the back of the shed, as well. Align the edges with attention and use 2″ brad nails to lock the trims into place tightly.
Make sure you check out the rest of the project, so you learn how to frame the roof and the frame of shed. In addition, I have lots of other shed projects on the site so I recommend you to browse through all alternatives before starting the building project.
