This step by step diy project is about corner trellis plans. I have designed this simple corner trellis so you can build one and save money. There are lots of modifications you can make to my plans, such as making the trellis wider, making the legs longer so you can set them into the ground or adjusting the distance between the trellis supports. Invest in cedar or other weather resistant lumber for a professional result. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Building a corner garden trellis
First of all, you need to build the legs for the corner trellis from 2×2 lumber. Cut the components at the dimensions shown in the plans.
Next, install the horizontal supports to the frame of the trellis. Cut the components from 2×2 lumber and drill pocket holes at both ends. Align the edges making sure the corners are square and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the components together tightly. Add waterproof glue to the joints to enhance the bond of the joints.
Fit the 2×2 supports to the top of the corners trellis frame to get the job done. Drill pilot holes and use 2 1/2″ screws to lock them into place, after making sure the corners are right angled.
Fit the horizontal trellis to the frame. Cut the trellis from 1×2 lumber and drill pocket holes at both ends. Use 1 1/4″ screws to secure the trellis to the frame. Cut a piece of wood to use as spacer, if you want to create consistent gaps between the trellis.
Continue the garden project by fitting the vertical trellis to the frame. Drill pocket holes at both ends and secure them into place with 1 1/4″ screws. Use a piece of wood as spacer to create even gaps between the components.
After building the corner trellis for your garden, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the pocket holes with wood plugs and the dents with wood putty. Smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper and apply a few coats of paint or stain to enhance the look of your project.
If you need portable corner trellis for your garden, these plans should come handy. This trellis will work as a nice privacy screen as well. You can easily adjust the size of the wood trellis to suit your needs. If you build this, I would love to see your project.
