This step by step diy project is about wood desk plans. If you want to build a beautiful and stylish desk for your bedroom, we recommend you to pay attention to the instructions described in the diagram. Adjust the size of the components with great care and lock them together by using waterproof glue and galvanized screws following the instructions. Make sure the design of the desk matches the style of the rest of the bedroom furniture.

It is essential to choose the right materials before starting the construction and the assembly of the desk. As you will see in the project, you need to choose durable lumber with a nice appearance, such as pine, cedar or redwood. Make sure the components are in a good visual condition and choose professional tools when adjusting their size. Take accurate measurements and join the components with glue and screws. The first step of the woodworking project is about building the side legs for the wood desk. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to build the components out of 1×4 lumber. Take accurate measurements and adjust the size of the components using a circular saw.

Build two pieces of each component, making sure they are both equal in size. Smooth the cut edges with fine-grit sandpaper.

Assembling the side leg

Assembling the side leg

Next, you have to assemble the side legs using the information from the diagram. Drill pilot holes through the legs and several insert 2 1/2″ screws into the horizontal components. Add glue to the joints in order to create a rigid bond between the components.

Building the storage unit

Building the storage unit

Mark the cut lines on the plywood sheets and get the job done with a circular saw. Smooth the cut edge with sandpaper and remove the residues with a damp cloth. Drill pocket at both ends of the horizontal components and insert 1 1/4′ screws into the side components.

Attaching the back

If you want to enhance the appearance of the wood desk, we recommend you to attach a 1/4″ piece of plywood to the back of the desk. Make sure the corners are right-angled and leave no gaps between the storage unit and the plywood component.

Drill pilot holes through the plywood and secure it to the storage unit by using finishing nails or galvanized screws. Add glue to the joints in order to enhance the bond of the components.

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.
