6×6 Lean to Shed Plans

This step by step diy project is about 6×6 lean to shed shed plans. This lean to shed is small so you can build it on almost any property. The shed features a large 4′ front door and a lean to roof, so it drains the water to the back of the construction. Make sure you check the local codes and make adjustments to the plans, if required. When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. How to build a 6×6 lean to shed

Building-a-floor-shed-frame

The first step of the lean to shed project is to build the frame of the floor. Cut the joists from 2×6 lumber at the right dimensions. Drill pilot holes through the rim joists and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components. Make sure the corners are square and align the edges flush.

Fitting the skids

Select the location for the shed and level the surface thoroughly. Fit the 4×4 skids and the attach the floor frame on top. Use rafter ties to lock the skids to the frame.

Floor sheets

Fit the 3/4″ plywood sheets to the floor frame of the shed. Cut the sheets and then align the edges with attention. Drill pilot holes through the sheets and insert 1 5/8″ screws, every 8″ along the framing.

Building the shed wall frames

Front-wall-frame

Use 2×4 lumber for the front wall frame. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs. Make sure the corners are square and align the edges flush. Build a double header for the door from 2×4 lumber and 1/2″ plywood. You can adjust the size of the door opening to suit your needs.

Back-wall-frame

Build the frame for the back wall from 2×4 lumber. Cut the components from 2×4 lumber at the right dimensions. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs. Make sure the corners are square and place the studs every 16″ on center.

Side-wall-frames—6×6-shed

Use 2×4 lumber for the side wall frames. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws to lock everything together tightly. Make sure the corners are square and align the edges flush.

Assembling the shed frame

Fit the wall frames to the floor of the shed. Align the edges with attention, plumb the walls vertically, drill pilot holes through the bottom plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the floor. Moreover, you need to lock the adjacent walls together tightly with 2 1/2″ screws. Make sure the corners are square and align the edges flush.

Fitting the siding sheets

Side panels

Fit T1-11 siding sheets to the sides of the shed. Cut the sheets at the right dimensions and then align the edges flush. Insert 6-8d nails, every 8″ along the framing.

Front wall panels

Fit the T1-11 siding panels to the front of the shed. Make cuts to the sheets so you can fit them around the opening with attention. Insert 6-8d nails, every 8″ along the framing.

Back wall panels

Fit the siding sheets to the sides of the shed, as well. Align the edges and leave no gaps between them. Insert 6-8d nails every 8″ along the framing, so you can secure the sheets into place tightly.
