This step by step diy woodworking project is about wine glass rack plans. The project features instructions for building a rustic wine shelf with a glass rack. If you want to customize this project, you can choose an unique finish or make it wider (for more bottles of wine). You can use pallet or scrap wood to get the job done in a professional manner. Work with attention and make adjustments to the design and overall dimensions if you want to get the job done in a professional manner.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a wine shelf with glass rack
The first step of the project is to build the sides for the wine glass rack. Mark the cut edges on the slats and get the job done with a circular saw. Smooth the edges with sandpaper.
Cut a piece of 1×4 lumber and drill pocket holes at both ends. Fit the bottom piece to the side using 1 1/4″ screws. Make sure the edges are aligned and check if the corners are right-angled. Adjust the size of the component to your needs. Therefore, you can make the wine rack wider and fit more bottles.
Build the wine glass rack using the information from the diagram. Mark the cut lines on the slat and make the notches using a saw. Remove the excess with a chisel and clean the recess with sandpaper. You can make the notches 3/4″ wide, according to the glasses you will use.
Fit the glass rack to the bottom of the structure and align all edges with attention. Drill pilot holes through the slat and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the support. Alternatively, you can use brad nails.
In order to add strength to the wine rack, you need to attach a support to the top, as shown in the diagram. Use a jigsaw to round the top of the support, for a professional look. Add glue and inset 1 1/4″ brad nails to lock the support into place.
Continue the project by fitting the 1×2 rails to the front of the rack. Buy or make 1/4″ thick strips of wood and secure them to the frame using 5/8″ brad nails.
Fill the holes and dents with wood putty and let it dry out for several hours. Use 120-200 grit sandpaper to smooth the surface. Remember that you can adjust the dimensions for the wine rack to suit your needs.
Top Tip: If you want to enhance the look of the project and to protect the components from decay, we recommend you to apply paint or stain.
