Wooden Snowman Plans

Building the base

Building the base

The first step of the backyard project is to build the base of the snowman. As you can easily notice in the plans, we recommend you to cut the 1×16 slats at the right size and to lock them together with galvanized screws.

After cutting the components at the right size, we recommend you to align them properly, making sure the edges are flush. Add waterproof glue to the edges and make sure the corners are square.

Building the body

The next step of the project is to make the base of the wooden snowman. As you can easily notice in the plans, we recommend you to build the components out of 1×12 lumber. Use the same techniques described above to assemble the body.

In addition, you could also build the head of the wooden snowman as described in the diagram. Cut the components at the dimensions described in the diagram and lock them together tightly. Drill pilot holes along the edges and insert 1 1/4″ galvanized screws.

Building the had of the wooden snowman is a little bit more complicated, as you need to secure the box made out of 1×4 slats to a large base. Center the box to the 1×10 piece of lumber and secure it into place with galvanized screws.

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.

Top Tip: If you want to enhance the look of the project and to protect the bar from decay, we recommend you to cover the components with paint or stain. Place the snowman in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
