This step by step diy project is about simple miter saw station plans. I have designed this simple miter saw station so you can take your workshop to your next level. I plan to build this for my own garage, as it is sturdy, simple to build and it comes with storage shelves for other tools. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration. Premium Plans available for this project in the Shop.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day.

How to build a miter saw stand
The first step of the project is to build the frame for the miter saw station. Cut the components from 1×4 lumber and lay them on a level surface. Align the edges flush and make sure the corners are square. Drill pilot holes through the 32″ long components and insert 1 5/8″ screws to assemble everything tightly. Add glue to the joints.
Attach the 1×4 legs to the frame. Plumb the legs with a spirit level and make sure the corners are square. Drill pilot holes through the legs and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the frame.
Attach the 1×4 supports to the interior of the frame. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws to lock them into place. Add glue to the joints and align the edges flush.
Next, build the frames for the table extensions. Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes and insert 1 5/8″ screws to assemble the frame together tightly.
Attach the 2×2 legs to the frames. Drill pilot holes through the frame and insert 1 5/8″ screws into the legs. Make sure the corners are square.
Fit the side extensions to the miter saw station. Align the edges flush.
Lock the side extensions to the miter saw table with 1×4 supports. Add glue to the joints, drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws.
Attach the bottom support to the miter saw station. Leave 3/4″ overhangs on both sides of the table. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws to attach the support to the legs.
Attach the supports to the bottom of the miter saw station. Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes and insert 1 5/8″ screws.
Fit the supports to the front of the miter saw station, as well.
Use 3/4″ plywood for the lower shelves. Make the cuts to the plywood sheets so you can fit them around the legs. Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes and insert 1 5/8″ screws to lock the shelves to the frame.
Use a piece of 1×4 lumber for the bottom of the trays. Fit the slat between the two supports and lock it into place with 1 5/8″ screws. You can use these trays for storing screws or other small tools.
Use 3/4″ plywood for the miter saw table. Fit the top to the miter saw station. Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes and insert 1 5/8″ screws to lock it into place tightly.
Fit the plywood tops to the side extensions.
Last but not least, you should take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of stain over the components to protect them from decay and to enhance the look of the miter saw station.
This is a super simple project anyone should be able to build in a few days without much effort. This is a project that will help you be better when building DIY projects. This is a basic miter saw station that will help you make proper cuts. In addition, you can also store tools and organize your shop efficiently. Premium Plans available for this project in the Shop.
