How to build a putting green
The first step of the project is to build the main frame for the putting green. Cut the components from 2×4 lumber. Align the edges with attention and make sure the corners are right-angled. Drill pilot holes through the rim joists and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components.
Next, you need to assemble the other frame. Drill pilot holes through the rim joists and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the 33″ long components. Place the joists equally-spaced for a professional result.
Continue the project by locking the two frames together. Place the frames on a level surface and align the edges with attention. Drill pilot holes and insert at least 4 3″ lag bolts to lock the frames together tightly.
Next, attach the 5/8″ plywood panels to the frames. Align the edges with attention and leave no gaps between the panels. Use 1 5/8″ brad nails to lock the panels to the joists.
Cut a hole for the bole and install the hole. You can adjust the position of the hole to suit your tastes.
Install the 1×6 skirting to the putting green. Leave no gaps between the slats and lock them to the frames with 1 5/8″ finishing nails. Stain the slats before attaching them to the frames.
In addition, you need to attach the turf to the floor with adhesive.
Fill the holes with wood putty and let them dry out for a few hours. Smooth the surface with 100-200 grit sandpaper and remove the residues with a damp cloth.
Top Tip:Â Apply a few coats of paint or stain to the components, to enhance the look of the project.
