The first step of the woodworking project is to build the sides of the home bar. As you can easily notice in the plans, we recommend you to build the legs out of 1×3 lumber and the panels out of 3/4″ plywood.

Drill pocket holes along the edges and to though the top of the panels. Align the components with great care and add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to get the job done in a professional manner. Insert 1 1/4″ screws into the legs.

Building the frame of the bar

Building the frame of the bar

Building the frame of the bar is a straight-forward process. Therefore, attach the 1×3 components as described in the image. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the horizontal component and secure it to the vertical components. Add glue to the joints to enhance the rigidity of the structure. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4 screws through the legs into the sides of the bar.

Building the face of the bar

Building the face of the bar

Build the face of the bar out of 3/4″ plywood. Mark the cut lines on the sheet of plywood and make the cuts with a circular saw. In addition, you need to make the curved corners by using a nice jigsaw.

Align the component at both ends and secure it to the frame of the bar with galvanized screws. Leave no gaps between the components and add waterproof glue to enhance the rigidity of the home bar.

Fitting-the-shelves

Attaching the shelves to the frame of the bar is the next step of the woodworking project. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the plywood pieces and align them into place with great care.

Top Tip: Make sure the corners are right-angled and secure them to the sides with 1 1/4″ galvanized screws. Add glue to the joints and place a spirit level over the shelves to make sure they are horizontal.

Fitting the support

Fitting the support

Fit the 1×3 support to the middle of the frame in order to add strength to the home bar. Make sure the shelves are equally-spaced before inserting the screws.

One of the last steps of the backyard project is to build the door for the bar. Build the frame of the doors out of 1×3 lumber and the panels out of 1/2″ plywood. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the horizontal components and secure them to the vertical components.

Cut a piece of 1/2″ plywood and secure them to the frame. Drill pocket holes along the edges of the plywood piece and secure it to the frame with 1 1/4″ screws. Add glue to the edges and remove the excess.

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.

Top Tip: If you want to enhance the look of the woodworking project and to protect the bar from decay, we recommend you to cover the components with paint or stain. Place the bench in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
