Building Bathroom Shelves

Building the sides of the bathroom shelves

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the sides for the bathroom shelves. As you can see in the image, we recommend you to build the legs out of 2×2 lumber and the supports out of 1×3 lumber.

Drill pocket holes at both ends of the supports and secure them to the legs by using 1 1/4″ screws. Make sure the corners are right angled and add glue to the joints.

Building the frame of the shleves

The next step of the woodworking project is to attach the 1×3 supports to the legs, as described in the diagram. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the supports and play the components on a level surface.

Top Tip: Place a 1/2″piece of plywood under the supports and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the legs. Leave no gaps between the components and add glue to the joints.

Building the shelves

In order to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to mark the cut lines on the 3/4″ plywood sheets and to get the job done with a circular saw. Smooth the cut edges with sandpaper and remove the residues with a cleaner.

Mark cut lines accurately, otherwise the components won’t fit one to another properly. Don’t make notches to the top shelf, in order to get a professional result.

Bathroom shelves plans

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.

Top Tip: In order to protect the lumber from water damage, we recommend you to cover the components with several coats of paint. Place the wooden shelves in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
