This step by step diy woodworking project is about triple bunk bed frame plans. If you want to build a three bunk bed, you should check my step by step instructions. I have designed this bunk bed so you can save time and use just common materials and tools. Make sure you take a look over the rest of plans to see alternatives and more projects for your garden.

Work with attention and don’t forget that a good planning will save you from many issues and it will keep the costs withing the total budget. Invest in high quality materials, such as pine, redwood or cedar. Drill pocket holes before inserting the galvanized screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. Add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to enhance the rigidity of the structure. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Building a triple bunk bed

Assembling-the-bed-frame

Assembling-the-bed-frame

The first step of the project is to build the bed frame for the triple bunk bed. Cut the components from 2×6 lumber. Align the edges flush, making sure the corners are square. Drill pilot pocket holes at both ends of the 76″ long components and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them together tightly. Add waterproof glue to the joints.

Attach the 1×4 support slats to the cleats. Cut a 1 1/4″ wide block of wood and fit it between the slats so you create even gaps between the components. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws to secure them into place tightly.

Fill the holes with wood putty and let them dry out for a few hours. Smooth the surface with 100-200 grit sandpaper and remove the residues with a damp cloth.

Top Tip: Apply a few coats of paint or stain to the components, to enhance the look of the project. Don’t forget to LIKE, SHARE and Pin this project, if you’ve enjoyed it.

I have no website but I would LOVE to be able to print your plans for the triple bunk beds. I like the very simple ones with two singles over each other and the third bunk partially in between them. My husband would make them for our grandchildren to sleep in a bunkie at the cottage. Can you help me please Ovidiu?
