This step by step diy woodworking project is about how to build double shed doors plans. The project features instructions for building double shed doors for the 12×16 barn shed. Check out PART 1 and 2 of the project to see how to frame the barn shed. See the rest of plans for more outdoor projects.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Read the local building codes before starting the project, as you might need a building permit. In addition, level the area and remove the vegetation layer. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Double barn shed doors plans
First of all, you need to attach the 2×4 door jams to the front of the barn shed. Use 2 1/2″ screws to lock the slats into place, after aligning the edges.
Next, attach a 2×2 door stop to the top of the opening, as shown in the diagram. Drill pilot holes through the component and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the header.
Build the door panels from T1-11 siding. Mark the cut lines on the sheets and get the job done with a circular saw. Smooth the edges with sandpaper.
Attach 2×4 trims to the door panel. Assemble the frame first and then attach the panel. Insert 1 5/8″ screws through the panel into the frame.
Fit the doors to the opening, as shown in the diagram. Lock the doors to the jams using hinges. In addition, install a latch to lock the doors together tightly.
Fill the holes with wood putty and let them dry out for a few hours. Smooth the surface with 100-200 grit sandpaper and remove the residues with a damp cloth.
