Building Ladder Shelves
The first step of the project is to build the legs for the ladder shelves. As you can easily notice in the plans, we recommend you to cut both ends of the legs at 80 degrees. Smooth the cut edges with sandpaper and remove the residues with a vacuum cleaner.
It is essential to take accurate measurements before making the cuts, otherwise the end result won’t suit your needs. Repeat the process for the rest of the legs.
The next step of the woodworking project is to fit the 2×3 supports the the side legs of the wooden rack. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the supports and secure them to the legs, by inserting  2″ galvanized screws. Make sure the corners are right-angled and add glue to the joints.
It is essential to place the sides of the ladder shelves properly-spaced, otherwise the end result might not suit your needs. Invest in high quality materials and take accurate measurements, if you want to get a professional result.
Build the shelves out of 1×12 lumber or out of 3/4″ plywood. Take accurate measurements before making the cuts and smooth the cut edges with fine-grit sandpaper. Work with attention and drill pilot holes through the supports before inserting the screws into the shelves. Add glue to the joints and align the shelves with great care.
One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.
Top Tip:Â In order to protect the lumber from water damage, we recommend you to cover the components with several coats of paint. Place the ladder shelves in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
