DIY Project – Double Decker Guitar Stand

From Mish Bayoumi,

I don’t seem to be able to upload my project, but wanted to share it since I based it on your plans. I took the basic guitar rack design from here, and basically just doubled it vertically. I extended the rails out past the side panels on one end to add space for an extra guitar on the outside as well as storage to hang cables, straps, etc.

I also routed out a recess in one shelf for picks, capos, tuners etc. I’m going to add a ukulele hanger onto the outside of one upright too. I used a router to cut the dado joints for the shelves which I then used 4cm decking screws to secure, and the side panels which I glued.

The whole thing is pine, finished by toasting it with a blowtorch for a ‘shou sugi ban’ inspired grain burn, then sealed with tung oil. I used 2 200x12x2 planks, 3 100x20x2 planks, 2 200×2 poles, plus a few lengths of dowel and some stick on felt. Thanks for the plans, they really helped with my initial design and for the measurements.
