This step by step diy woodworking project is about diy bench plans. If you have a backyard and you want to add value to your property, we strongly recommend you to  consider building a rustic garden bench. Select the right plans for your needs before starting the project. Generally speaking, it is a better idea to build several of these sawhorses, as you will most certainly need several when building or cutting something.
Make sure you invest in high quality materials, such as pressure-treated lumber, cedar, pine or redwood. Take accurate measurements and use a professional saw to get the job done. Always align the components at both ends before drilling the pilot holes and inserting the galvanized screws, in order to prevent the wood from splitting. Use waterproof glue to reinforce the joints. Building a diy bench
The first step of the woodworking project is to build the supports for the bench. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to build the support out of 2×4 lumber. Cut the components at the right size and drill pocket holes at both ends of the horizontal components.
Make sure the corners are right-angled and add glue to the joints, before inserting the 2 1/2″ screws into the vertical components.
In order to add value and character to your project, we recommend you to add X-shaped trims to the supports. Mark the cut lines on the 2×4 lumber and use a good circular saw to get the job done in a professional manner.
Drill pilot holes through the components and secure them to the rectangles using 2 1/2″ screws. Lave no gaps between the components and add glue to enhance the rigidity of the structures. Smooth everything with attention and remove the residues.
Lay the 2×4 slats on a level surface and make sure you align them at both ends. Add glue between the slats in order to lock them together tightly and clamp everything together tightly.
Drill pilot holes through the supports, align them with great care and lock them to the slats with screws and waterproof glue. Plumb the supports with a spirit level and make sure the corners are right-angled.
After assembling the wooden bench we recommend you to check if the components are locked together properly. Insert the galvanized screws properly, making sure they are at the same level with the wooden surface.
Top Tip: Don’t forget to take a cover the components with paint, if you want to enhance the look of the bench and to make it stand out. Use glue to lock the components into place.

What weight load will this bench support? Thanks so much for posting this!
The top is made from 2x4s so it’s pretty sturdy. I suppose it can support 300 lbs 150 kg easily.
