Wine rack building plans
The first step of the project is to build the frame of the wine rack. Therefore, cut the components out of 3/4″ plywood and drill pilot holes through the top of the side components. Insert 1 1/4″ screws into the top components and add waterproof glue to the joints, after making sure the corners are right-angled.
Continue the project by drilling pocket holes along the sides of the back components. Fit the back component to the frame of the wine rack and secure it into place using 1 1/4″ screws.
Top Tip: Add glue to the joints and make sure the corners are right-angled.
Continue the woodworking project by fitting the shelves to the wine rack. Therefore, cut the shelves out of 3/4″ plywood, making sure you take accurate measurements and use a professional power tool. Smooth the cut edges with sandpaper and remove the residues.
Top Tip: Drill pocket holes at both ends of the shelves and secure the to the wine rack frame using 1 1/4″ screws, after making sure the corners are right-angled.
Building the faces for the wine rack is a straight-forward process, but you need to pay attention to a few aspects, in order to prevent costly mistakes. Mark the cut lines on the 1×3 slats and get the job done with a jigsaw. Smooth the cut edges and make sure they all have the same size and shape.
Attach the faces to the shelves, as described in the diagram. Leave no gaps between the components and add waterproof glue to enhance the bond of the joints.
Top Tip: Work with attention and repeat the process for the rest of the components.
Fit the 1×2 partitions to the shelves, as described in the diagram. Use waterproof glue to lock the partitions into place and make sure you leave no gaps between the components.
In order to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to attach the 1×3 trims to the top and to the bottom of the wine rack. therefore, cut the ends of the trims at 45 degrees and lock them into place by inserting 1 1/4″ finishing nails.
One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.
Top Tip:Â If you want to enhance the look of the woodworking project and to protect the table from decay, we recommend you to cover the components with paint or stain. Place the bench in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
