This step by step diy project is about two tier plant stand plans. I have designed this small tier stand so you can get the job done by yourself in a few days and save money. I will show you in a step by step manner how to build this project with basic tools. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration.

When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a two tier plant stand

The first step of the project is to build the front legs. Use a miter saw and make a 30 degree cut at both ends of the components. Use sandpaper to smooth the surface.

Next, you need to cut the back legs from 1×2 lumber, as well. Overlap the front legs to the back legs, making sure you align the edges with attention. Leave no gaps between the components, drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws. Add glue to the joints and remove the excess.

Last but not least, take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain over the components to protect them and to enhance the look of the project.
