Outdoor Storage Shed Double Doors Plans

This step by step diy project is about 10×20 shed doors plans. This is PART 3 of the outdoor gable shed project, where I show you everything you want to know about framing the double doors and fitting the trims. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration. Remember that you need to select the site for the shed with attention and that you have to comply with a few legal regulations.

When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day.

How to build double doors for the storage shed

Fitting-the-door-jambs

Fit 2×4 jambs around the door opening. Align the edges flush and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the jambs into place tightly.

Building-the-double-doors

Build the door panels from T1-11 siding and the trims from 2×4 umber. Align the trims flush with the door panels and secure them together with glue and 2″ nails.

Fitting the double doors

Fit the double doors to the front opening. Align the edges with attention and use hinges to secure the doors to the jambs. Moreover you need to attach one latch to the doors, so you lock them into place tightly. Fit handles to the double doors.

Window and door trims

Continue the project by fitting the 36″x80″ vinyl door to the sides wall. Moreover, fit the 24″x36″ vinyl windows to the side of the shed. Use 1×4 trims around the windows and around the door, to enhance the look of the shed.

Side wall – Trims

Fit the 1×4 trims to the sides of the shed. Use 2″ brad nails to secure the trims into place tightly.

Front trims

Fit the 1×4 trims to the front of the shed, as well.

Back wall – Trims

Last but not least, fit the trims to the back of the outdoor storage shed.

Taking care of the finishing touches will help you make the barn shed stand out. Cover the components with stain or paint so you protect them from decay and to enhance the look of the shed.
