Barn Shed Doors Plans

This step by step diy project is about shed double doors plans. This article is PART 3 of the 10×10 gable shed project, where I show you how to make the double doors for the shed. In PART 3 I also show you how to attach the trims to the shed, so you get the job done in a super nice manner. When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. Building barn shed doors

Door-jambs

The first step of the project is to attach the 2×4 jambs around the door opening. Cut the components at the right dimensions and then secure them into place with 2 1/2″ screws or 8d nails.

Door-panels

Use 5/8″ T1-11 siding for the doors. Smooth the edges with sandpaper, after cutting the panels to size.

Attach the 2×4 trims to the door panels. Align the edges with attention and lock everything together tightly with glue and screws, Make sure the edges are flush for a professional result.

Diagonal-braces

Attach decorative trims to the shed doors. Use glue and 2″ screws or nails to lock them into place properly.

Fitting-the-doors-into-place

Fit the double doors to the front of the shed and lock them to the jambs with hinges. Install a latch to lock the doors together tightly.

Fitting-the-trims

Use 1×4 lumber for the front and for the corner trims. Use 1 1/2″ brad nails to lock the trims into place tightly. Leave no gaps between the components. Install soffit to the shed, so you get a professional result.

Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain to enhance the look of the project.

Seen from one side, the shed has a nice appearance. This is a small shed, but it is still roomy enough to store your tools and other items.
