This step by step diy project is about 6×8 ice fishing shack door plans. This is PART 3 of the ice fishing house project, where I show you how to build the door for the shed and how to fit the trims. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration. Remember that you need to select the site for the shed with attention and that you have to comply with a few legal regulations.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build ice fishing shack door & trims
Fit the 1×4 jambs around the door opening. Cut the trims at the right dimensions and then secure them into place with 2″ brad nails. Align the edges flush with attention.
Use T1 siding for the door panel and 1×4 lumber for the trims. Use the panel that you have cut out in the previous step for the door. Attach the 1×4 trims to the panel, as shown in the diagram. Align the edges flush and add glue to the joints. Leave no gaps between the components and make sure the corners are square. Insert 1 1/2″ nails to secure the components together tightly.
Fit the door to the front wall of the fishing shack. Use hinges to lock the door to the jambs and also install a latch. Fit handles to the door so you can open and close it properly.
Fit the 1×4 trims to the front of the ice fishing shelter. After cutting the trims to the right dimensions, you need to attach them into place with 2″ brad nails.
Fit the 1×4 trims to the sides of the ice shack. Align the edges flush and insert 2″ brad nails to lock the trims into place tightly.
Fit the trims to the back of the shelter, as shown in the plans and using the techniques described above.
Fit 1×4 trims around the window, using the information from the diagram.
This ice fishing shack is easy to build and has a neat design and appearance. You can choose the color scheme that suit your needs.
