This step by step diy project is about 4×10 shed doors plans. This is PART 3 of the small lean to storage shed project, where I show you how to frame the double doors and how to install them to the front opening. Moreover, I give you a few tips on how to fit the window trims. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration. Remember that you need to select the site for the shed with attention and that you have to comply with a few legal regulations.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Building double shed doors
Fit the 2×4 jambs around the opening. Align the edges flush and then insert 2 1/2″ screws, so you can lock them into place tightly. Insert the screws every 8″ along the framing.
Use T1-11 siding for the door panels and 1×4 lumber for the trims. Lay the panels on a level surface and then attach the trims. Leave no gaps between the components, drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws. Make sure the edges are flush, otherwise the doors won’t fit into place properly.
Fit the double doors to the front opening and lock them into place with hinges. Make sure the doors open and close properly and make adjustments, if necessary. Add handles to the double shed doors and the install a latch, so you can lock them into place tightly.
Fit the 1×4 trims to the sides of the shed. Make the angle cuts and then secure them into place with 2″ brad nails.
Fit the shed trims to the front, using the same techniques described above.
Fit the 1×4 trims to the back of the shed, as well. Use 2″ brad nails to secure the trims into place tightly and leave no gaps between the components.
If you have’t looked over PART 1 yet, I recommend you to do it, as it will show everything you want to know about building the frame of the shed. In PART 2 of the project I show you how to frame the lean to roof. This is a small shed you can use for tools, lawn mower or even a generator.

Thank you very much for the detailed plans. I appreciate the time it took for you to create for a newbie like myself.
You’re welcome. Looking forward to seeing your projects!
Hey I love your website and have selected to do a 4×10 lean to, I could not find a plan with one with the door on the end? Do you have one?
I assume that in lieu of the double doors, I copy what I did for the back wall, and just add a 36″ cut out for a door on on one of the ends??? I appreciate any help! Great Great website
