8×12 Shed Doors Plans

This step by step diy project is about 8×12 shed doors plans. This is PART 3 of the gable shed project, where I show you how to build the single and the double doors for the shed. The 3 ft wide doors are made from 2x4s (frame) and T1-11 siding (panel). Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration.

When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Fitting-the-door-jambs

Fit the 2×4 jambs around the large door opening. Align the edges flush, drill holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them into place. In addition, install the 24″x36″ window to the opening and then attach the 1×4 decorative trims around it. Use 2″ nails to secure the trims into place.

Use 2×4 lumber for the door trims. Cut the boards as shown in the diagram and drill pocket holes at both ends of the vertical and middle components. Lay everything on a level surface and align the edges flush. Make sure the corners are square and insert 2 1/2″ screws to assemble the 2 frames.

Door-panel

Door-panel

Build the door panels from T1-11 siding (the panel that you have cut out in the previous steps). Lay the panels over the door frames and insert 1 5/8″ screws to lock them into place tightly. Add glue to the joints.
