This step by step diy project is about 16×16 shed doors plans. This is PART 3 of the large lean to shed project, where I show you everything you want to know about framing the door and fitting the trims. Remember that you need to select the site for the shed with attention and that you have to comply with a few legal regulations.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. How to build a 16×16 shed door and trims
Double-door-jambs
The first step of the project is to attach the jambs around the side door opening. Fit the 2×4 jambs around the door opening. Align the edges flush and insert 2 1/2″ screws to secure them into place tightly.
4-ft-shed-door-frame
Build the door frame from 2×4 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the vertical and middle components. Lay the boards on a level surface and align the edges flush. Insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the door frame together.
Assembling-the-double-shed-doors
Build the door panels from T1-11 siding. Use 1 5/8 screws to lock the panels to the frame. Add glue to the joints and align the edges flush.
Fitting-the-double-doors
Fit the doors to the side opening and then secure them to the jambs with hinges. Install a latch so you can lock the door into place tightly. Install handles so you can open and close the door easily.
Front-door-jambs
Fit the 2×4 jambs around the front door opening, as well. Cut the jambs from 2×4 lumber and then secure them into place with 2 1/2″ screws, every 8″ along the framing.
Small-shed-door-frame
Build the side door frame in the same manner described above.

Attach the siding panel to the frame, using 1 5/8″ screws.
Fitting-the-front-door
Fit the door to the side of the shed. Align the edges with attention and then lock the door to the jambs with hinges. Install a latch to lock the door into place tightly.
Installing-the-window
Fit the 1×4 trims to the front of the shed and around the windows.

Last but not least, take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats with paint or stain to enhance the look of the shed and to protect the components from decay.
