DIY Project – 8×12 gable shed with media centre

Initially we were going to purchase a pre-cut shed but due to COVID, supplies were very limited with a 12 week delivery date. We could not wait that long. We opted to build our shed instead using the plans indicated here within. Given that the shed would be integrated with our deck it was to serve two purposes.
Storage of lawn and deck equipment in addition to being a media center allowing us to enjoy the outdoors while watching some of our favourite sporting events. We did some minor modifications to the plans to accommodate our specific need. We did not spare cost from a material perspective. We use appropriate weather specific materials which inherently cost more. In addition we used building wrap, roof paper, etc.
Our all in cost was about 3500 CDN. In addition the opening utilizes pneumatic lifts to keep the media center access open. For sheathing we used Smart-side lap engineered siding for efficient vertical support.
