8×8 Free Standing Deck – DIY Project

From Laila Bergquist-Turner,

My husband said it could not be done and I proved him wrong. I said if I can build a window box, then I can build a small deck. We needed something to add to our shed since hubby was no longer able to navigate the short ramp. Considering that I will be 80 years old in December, this project proves that anyone can build this deck if they want to.

I made some mistakes but so far my neighbours have not commented on them. I have only gotten praises. Not including deck furniture and solar lighting, I estimate the total cost was no more than $500 for the wood. To save money I was able to purchase ‘rough’ 4x4s for the posts which were exactly 4″ by 4″ for $10 each (4 eight footers)
