This step by step diy woodworking project is about 8×10 deer blind plans. I have designed this large hunting box so you can build it in a few days and keep the costs as low as possible. This is a large deer hunting blind with super sturdy 2×4 walls and windows on all four sides, for a 360 degree view. Make sure you take a look over the rest of plans to see alternatives and more projects for your garden.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

8×10 Deer Blind Plans
The next step of the project is to build the floor frame for the 8×10 hunting house. Use 2×6 lumber for the joists and cut them as shown in the plans. Lay the joists on a level floor and place them every 16″ on center. Drill pilot holes through the perimeter joists and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the joists. Make sure the edges are flush and check if the corners are right angled.
Use 3/4″ plywood sheets for the floor of the deer blind. Align the edges with attention and leave no gaps between the components. Use 1 5/8″ screws to lock the sheets to the joists, every 8″.
Build the side walls from 2×4 lumber. Cut the components at the right dimensions. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs. You can adjust the size of the windows to suit your needs. Notice the double studs placed at both ends of the wall frame. Fit 1/2″ plywood between the double studs.
Build the back wall from 2×4 lumber. As you can see in the diagram, you need to frame the door opening in the right side. You can adjust the size of the door to suit your needs. You need to build the door header from 2x4s and 1/2″ plywood in the middle.
Continue the project by building the front wall of the deer stand. Assemble everything with attention. Make sure the corners are square and leave no gaps between the components.
Fit the side, front and back walls to the floor. Drill pilot holes through the bottom plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the floor. Make sure the corners are square and align the edges before locking the walls together. Secure the adjacent studs together. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2″ screws. Cut out the plate that falls at the base of the door opening.
This large deer blind is super easy to build and it looks very nice. You can build a platform and build the shooting house elevated from the ground.
You can definitely build this elevated deer stand using common tools and materials. Make sure you know the basic woodworking skills before starting the project, or ask a skilled friend to assist you. You can adjust the dimensions of the deer box, while using the same techniques described in the plans.
Building an 8×10 deer blind will likely cost you between $800 and $1,500, depending on the materials, insulation, and any additional features you choose. The larger size offers more space and comfort, allowing for a more versatile setup inside. This investment results in a solid, reliable deer blind that provides excellent concealment and comfort for long hours in the field.
You can expect to spend about 3 to 4 weekends constructing your 8×10 deer blind. The build will involve careful planning to ensure stability, weatherproofing, and effective camouflage. With consistent effort, you’ll have a spacious, well-built blind ready for hunting season.

Looking for 8×8 deer blind with either a food down / out platform for a bed or be able to hang a hammock. I want to sleep in it for opening day. Plus elevate it 8 feet.
