The wife and I built a 12×12 pergola. The plans were easy to follow. I modify the slats to 1×3.5×14 and put in 10 for more shade area. We stained prior to installing. We enjoyed the project, it took 3 days for us to do, not including the footings. Footings are 42 deep per local code and used 8 inch form tubes.
