Double Wood Cooler Plans

This step by step diy woodworking project is about double wood cooler plans. I have designed these plans at the suggestion of a fellow diy reader. This wood cooler featured a bottom cabinet and enough space for fitting two coolers. Make sure you take a look over the rest of plans to see alternatives and more projects for your garden.

Work with attention and don’t forget that a good planning will save you from many issues and it will keep the costs withing the total budget. Invest in high quality materials, such as pine, redwood or cedar. Drill pocket holes before inserting the galvanized screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. Add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to enhance the rigidity of the structure. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

The first step of the project is build the sides for the wood cooler. Therefore, cut the components from 2×2 lumber at the right dimensions described in the diagrams. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the 13 1/2″ components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the legs. Make sure the edges are flush and check the corners for squareness.

Remember that you need to make adjustments to the width and to the length of the wood cooler so it suits the cooler you buy. That is why, always build around the cooler you have already purchased.

Next, you need to assemble the frame of the wood cooler by fitting the aprons. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the 2×2 components and secure them to the legs with 2 1/2″ pocket screws. Add glue to the joints and make sure the corners are right-angled.

Fill the holes with wood putty and let them dry out for a few hours. Smooth the surface with 100-200 grit sandpaper and remove the residues with a damp cloth. Take a look over PART 2 of the project, so you see how to build the low cabinet and the top lids.

Top Tip: Apply a few coats of paint or stain to the components, to enhance the look of the project. Don’t forget to LIKE, SHARE and Pin this project, if you’ve enjoyed it.
