Building a storage cart
Top Tip: We strongly recommend you to adjust the size of the storage cart to you needs, as there is not a standard  dimension for this project. Work with attention and adjust the size of the cart to suit your needs.
Building a wooden cart
Building the faces of the cart
The first step of the project is to build the sides of the wooden cart. As you can see in the image, we recommend you to build the components out of 2×4 slats. Make sure you take accurate measurements if you want to get a professional result.
It is essential to align the components at both ends and to drill pocket holes before inserting the 2 1/2″ galvanized screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints if you want to get a professional result.
Attaching the side slats to the cart
Continue the woodworking project by locking the faces of the cart together by attaching the 2×4 slats to the sides of the structure. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the slats before inserting the galvanized screws into place.
In addition, we recommend you to check if the corners are right-angled by using a carpentry square. Add waterproof glue to the joints in order to create a rigid structure.
Attaching the slats to the bottom of the cart
Turn the storage cart upside-down and attach the 2×6 slats to the frame, as shown in the image. If you really want to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to align the slats at both ends and to don’t leave any gaps between them.
Top Tip: Add waterproof glue to the slats in order to enhance their bond. Drill pilot holes before inserting the screws, in order to prevent the wood from splitting.
Fitting the caster wheels
Adding caster wheels to the bottom of the cart is not necessary, but it will most certainly easy your life. Choose the appropriate wheels for your needs and lock them to the corners of the cart with screws.
Attaching the handles
One of the last steps of the project is to attach the handles to the sides of the wooden cart. Center the handles to the top slat and lock it into place with galvanized screws.

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.
Top Tip:Â In order to protect the lumber from water damage, we recommend you to cover the components with several coats of paint. Place the wooden wooden storage cart in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
