This step by step diy project is about 16×24 tractor shed plans. This is PART 2 of the shed, where I show you how to build the lean to roof for the tractor shed. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration. Remember that you need to select the site for the shed with attention and that you have to comply with a few legal regulations.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day.

How to build a lean to tractor shed roof
The first step of the project is to build the middle post for the shed from 6×6 lumber. As you can easily notice in the diagram, you need to set the posts into the ground for at least 3′. Moreover, you need to make a notch to top of the post, so you can install the 2×12 beams.
Make sure align the post properly. The notch of the post should be aligned with the front walls. Use a spirit level to plumb the post and then secure it tightly into place with braces for a few days, until the concrete sets. You need to set the post in concrete for at least 3′.
Fit the double 2×12 beams to the top of the shed. Use 4 1/2″ lag bolts so you can secure the beams to the top side walls. Use a spirit level to make sure the beams are perfectly horizontal. Fit double 2×6 beams to the sides of the shed. Use 4 1/2″ screws to secure the supports into place. Make sure the edges are flush.
Fit 4×4 braces to the front of the run in shed. Make 45 degree cuts to both ends of the braces and then lock them into place with 3 1/2″ screws
Fit 2×6 rafters to the top of the shed. Place rafters every 24″ on center. Use rafter ties to lock the rafters into place tightly.
Fit T1-11 siding sheets to the sides of the shed. Cut the panels to the right dimensions and then lock them into place tightly with 6-8d nails. Leave no gaps between the sheets for a professional result.
Cut the plywood sheets to the right dimensions and then attach them to the top of the shed. Use 1 5/8″ every 8″ along the rafter for a professional result. Leave no gaps between the sheets for a professional result. Alternatively, you can install metal sheets to the roof.
Fit 2×8 trims to the sides and to the front and back of the shed. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2″ screws to lock the trims into place tightly.
Cover the roof of the shed with roofing felt, making sure the strips overlap at least 2″. Secure the tar paper to the plywood sheets with roofing staples. In addition, cut a large piece for the top ridge. Fit the side drip edges over the roofing felt, while the bottom drip edges should be fit under. Read the instructions labeled on the asphalt shingle packs before installing them into place tightly. Start with the bottom left side of the roof and install them all the way to the top.
