This step by step diy project is about 12×12 one horse barn door plans. This is PART 3 of the project where I show you how to build the dutch doors and how to attach the decorative trims to the corners of the shed. When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a 12×12 barn shed doors
Building-the-door-horse-barn
Build the door panels from T1-11 siding and the trims from 1×4 lumber. Use 1 1/4 screws to lock the panels to the trims. Add glue to the joints and align the edges flush.
Fitting-the-door-jambs
Fit the 2×4 jambs around the door opening. Align the edges with attention and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them tightly into place.
Fitting the doors
Fit the dutch door into the openings and lock them to the jambs with hinges. Install latches so you can secure the door into place tightly.
Side wall trims
Fit the 1×4 trims to the sides of the horse shed. Align the edges and insert 2″ nails to lock the trims into place tightly.
Back wall trims
Fit the 1×4 trims to the back of the shed. Align the edges and insert 2″ nails to lock them into place tightly.
Front trims
Fit the 1×4 trims to the front of the shed. Align the edges and insert 2″ nails to lock them into place tightly.
