This step by step diy woodworking project is about simple playhouse plans. Invest in high quality materials, such as pine, redwood or cedar. Drill pocket holes before inserting the galvanized screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. Building a simple playhouse

First of all, you need to build the frame of the floor. In order to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to build the components out of 2×4 lumber. Cut the components at the right size and drill pilot holes through the side components. Insert 2 1/2″ screws into the regular joists, making sure the corners are right-angled.

The next step of the project is to to attach a 3/4″ plywood sheet to the frame floor. Align the edges with great care and smooth the edges with attention. Drill pilot holes through the plywood and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the floor frame.

The next step of the project is to build the front and back frames for the playhouse. Cut the components out of 2×2 lumber, using the instructions shown in the diagram. Drill pilot holes and lock the components together using 2 1/2″ screws. Add glue to the joint and remove the excess with a damp cloth.

Lay the frames to the floor of the playhouse and use a spirit level to make sure they are plumb. Drill pilot holes through the bottom plates and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the floor. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the side components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the front and back faces.

Build the front panel out of 3/4″ plywood. Make sure you cut out the door opening with a circular saw. Smooth the edges thoroughly and drill pocket holes along the exterior edges. Fit the panel to the frame of the playhouse and secure it into place using 1 1/4″ screws. Leave no gaps between the components and add glue to the joints.

Build the side walls out of 3/4″ plywood. Use a jigsaw to cut out the window opening. Drill pocket holes along the edges of the panel and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the frame of the

Build the back wall in the same manner described above. Cut out the opening with a jigsaw and smooth the edges. Drill pocket holes around the edges, align the panel with attention and secure it to the frame using 1 1/4″ screws. Add glue to the joints and remove the excess with a damp cloth.

In order to enhance the appearance of the playhouse, we recommend you to attach 1×3 trims around the door. Make the top trim curved and smooth the cut edges with sandpaper. Attach the trims to the wall and secure it into place using glue and finishing nails. Leave no gaps between the components.

Fit 1×3 trims to the rest of the windows. If you want to add a personal touch to the playhouse, we recommend you to fit trims to both faces of the panels.

Fit the trims around the side windows and secure them into place using finishing nails.

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.

Top Tip: If you want to enhance the look of the project and to protect the desk from decay, we recommend you to cover the components with paint or stain. Pay attention to the rest of the project to learn how to build the roof and the front overhang.
