Building garden trellis
The first step of the woodworking project is to build the vertical supports for the garden trellis. Use 1×2 lumber for the sides components and 1×1 lumber for the middle components. Take accurate measurements and use a good circular saw to get a professional result. Smooth the cut edges with sandpaper and remove the residues.
Continue the woodworking project is to attach the horizontal supports to the trellis. Use 1×1 lumber to build the supports and take accurate measurements before making the cuts. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the vertical supports.
One of the last steps of the project is to attach the rest of the components to the frame of the trellis. Align the components with great care and drill pilot holes before inserting the screws, to get the job done in a professional manner.
In order to enhance the look of the trellis, we recommend you to build the V-shaped components. Cut both ends of the 1×1 components at 45 degrees and lock them together using finishing nails. Add waterproof glue to the joints an remove the excess.
Last but not least, you have to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the holes and the cracks with wood filler and let it dry out for several hours, before sanding the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.
Top Tip: Protect the wooden components from rot by applying several coats of paint. Choose colors that match the design of the rest of your property, as to enhance the look of the octagon table.
