by Ovidiu

This step by step diy project is about wood patio table plans. This woodworking project features detailed instructions regarding the construction of a beautiful outdoor patio table. Make sure you adjust the size and the design of the table to suit your needs. Always pre-drill the components before inserting the screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. Align everything with attention, making sure the components fit each other before adding the glue and the screws.

It is essential to choose the right materials before starting the construction and the assembly of the patio table. As you will see in the project, you need to choose durable lumber with a nice appearance, such as pine, cedar or redwood. Make sure the components are in a good visual condition and choose professional tools when adjusting their size. Take accurate measurements and join the components with glue and screws. Wood Patio Table Plans

Building the frame of the table

Building the frame of the table

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame for the table. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to cut the components at the right size using a circular saw. Drill pilot holes at both ends of the long components and insert 1 14″ screws into the perpendicular components.

Make sure the corners are square and leave no gaps between the components. Add glue to the joints in order to get a professional result.

Attaching the legs to the frame

Next, you need to attach the 2×2 legs to the frame of the table. Take accurate measurements and get the job done with a circular saw. Smooth the edges with sandpaper and remove the residues with a vacuum cleaner.

Drill pilot holes through the frame of the table and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the legs. Plumb the legs with a spirit level and add glue to the joints in order to get a professional result.

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.

Top Tip: In order to protect the lumber from water damage, we recommend you to cover the components with several coats of paint. Place the wooden patio table in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
