From Josh, 

Built the two post pergola with my Dad, project took about 4 days total. Good cedar is either hard to find or really expensive where I live, so the post are pressure treated lumber and the timber is stained and sealed Douglas Fir. I attached a corrugated sheet metal roof to keep the snow off my BBQ station. All in all, a great project and it turned out very nice.
