This step by step diy project is about 24×24 shed doors plans. This is PART 3 of the large gable shed project, where I show you everything you want to know about framing the side door and fitting the trims. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration. Remember that you need to select the site for the shed with attention and that you have to comply with a few legal regulations.
When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a shed door
Fit 2×4 jambs around the door opening. Align the edges flush and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the jambs into place tightly.
Build the side door from 2×4 lumber and T1-11 siding. First build the door frame using pocket screws. Align the trims flush with the door panels and secure them together with glue and 2″ nails.  Alternatively you could buy a door and fit it to the opening. However, I strongly recommend you to buy the door before starting the project, so you can adjust the opening to suit your needs.
Fit the door into place and secure it to the jambs with hinges. Install a latch so you can keep the door locked tightly into place.
Fit the window to the opening and then install the 1×4 trims. Use 2″ nails to secure the trims into place tightly.
You need to check out PART 1 and PART 2 of the shed, so you learn how to build the frame and the roof for the large outdoor gable shed. Moreover, I strongly recommend you to check out the rest of the shed projects that I have on the blog.
