Building a woodworking table

The first step of the woodworking table is to build the sides of the work table. Therefore, we recommend you to build the components out of 2×4 lumber. Take accurate measurements and use a circular saw to get the job done.

Attach the bottom and the top braces to the legs. Drill pilot holes through the braces and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the legs. Make sure the corners are right-angled and add glue to the joints.

Continue the project by locking the sides of the work table together. Drill pilot holes through the components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the legs. Make sure the sides are plumb and check if the braces are horizontal.

If you want to create additional storage space to the woodworking table, we recommend you to create a middle shelf. Therefore, cut the supports out of 2×4 lumber and attach them to the frame of the table. Adjust the height at which you set the supports into place. Use a spirit level to check if the shelf is horizontal.

Building the shelves for the table is a straight-forward process, but you need to take accurate measurements. Use a nice circular saw to get the job done and to make the corners notches.

Attach the 3/4″ plywood components into place and secure them to the frame by using 1 1/4″ screws. Make sure you leave no gaps between the components and enhance the rigidity by adding waterproof glue.

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.

Top Tip: If you want to enhance the look of the woodworking project and to protect the table from decay, we recommend you to cover the components with paint or stain. Place the bench in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
