Work with attention and don’t forget that a good planning will save you from many issues and it will keep the costs withing the total budget. Invest in high quality materials, such as pine, redwood or cedar. Drill pocket holes before inserting the galvanized screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. Add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to enhance the rigidity of the structure.

How to build a 3 legged sawhorse
The first step of the project is to build the I-beam for the sawhorse. Cut the components from 2×4 lumber and the assemble the I-beam together tightly. Center the middle slat to the top and bottom components. Add glue to the joints, drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws.
Build angled legs for the sawhorse from 2×4 lumber. Make a 15 degree cut to one end of the two legs.
Fit the legs to the I-beam. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws so you can lock the legs into place tightly.
Fit the third leg to the opposite end of the I-beam. Make sure the corners are square and drill pilot holes, before inserting it into place with 2 1/2″ screws.
This sawhorses are very sturdy and very cheap to build. If you are tight on space, this sawhorse is the right choice. However, you should remember that these sawhorses are not that easily stackable.
Fill the holes with wood putty and let them dry out for a few hours. Smooth the surface with 100-220 grit sandpaper and remove the residues with a damp cloth.
Top Tip: Apply a few coats of paint or stain to the components, to enhance the look of the project.
