6×8 Shed Door and Ramp Plans

by Ovidiu

This step by step diy project is about 6×8 shed door and ramp plans. This is PART 3 of the 6×8 gable shed project, where I show you how to build the single door and the shed ramp for the shed. You can easily adjust the size of the ramp, as well as the slope, so it suits your needs and budget. Take a look over the rest of my woodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration.

When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

The first step of the project is to build the door for the 6×8 shed. Cut the door panel from 5/8″ T1-11 siding at 32″x77 3/4″. Use 1×4 lumber for the door trims. Attach the trims to the panels and align everything with attention. Leave no gaps between the components and add glue to the joints. Use 1 1/2″ nails to secure the trims to the panel.

Next, attach the 1×4 trims around the opening, as shown in the diagram. Use 1 1/2″ nails and glue to secure the jambs to the front wall. Align the edges flush before inserting the screws into place.

Installing the door

Fit the door to the opening and lock it into place with hinges on one side and with a latch on the opposite side.

Building the ramp supports

Building the ramp supports

Build the three supports for the shed ramp from 2×4 lumber. Cut one end of the supports at 75 degrees and the other end at 15 degrees using a miter saw. Smooth the edges with sandpaper before attaching them to the shed. In addition, you should remember that you can adjust the slope for the shed to suit your own needs.
