This step by step diy project is about skateboard rack plans. This detailed project features instructions and diagrams about building a basic skateboard rack. Skateboard Rack Plans
Building-the-sides-for-rack
First, build the sides of the skateboard rack. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to mark the cut lines to the 1×8 slat. Use a good circular saw to make the straight lines and smooth the edges with sandpaper.
Make the curved cuts by using a jigsaw and remove the residues with a vacuum cleaner. Adjust the size of the notches and the distance between them according to your needs.
Fitting the side supports
The next step of the woodworking project is to build the side legs for the wooden rack. In order to get a professional result, we recommend you to mark the cut lines on the 1×6 slats and to get the job done with a jigsaw. Make sure the blade of the jigsaw goes exactly over the cut lines.
Use fine-grit sandpaper to smooth the edges. Attach the legs to the sides, drill pilot holes and insert a 1 1/4″ screws to create a rigid bond. Add glue to the joints to enhance the rigidity of the structure.

In order to get the job done in a professional manner, lock the two sides of the rack together, by using several 1×4 supports. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the supports and align them with great care, before securing them to the sides by using 1 1/4″ screws and waterproof glue.
Leave no gaps between the components and make sure the whole structure is rigid. Make sure the edges are flush one with another.
Fitting the bottom support
In order to add extra-support to the structure, we recommend you to fit a 1×6 support to the bottom of the skateboard rack. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the 1×6 slat and fit it between the sides of the rack. Insert 1 1/4″ screws into the sides and add glue to the joints.

One of the last steps of the woodworking project is to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the pilot holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-grit sandpaper.
Top Tip: In order to protect the lumber from water damage, we recommend you to cover the components with several coats of paint. Place the wooden skateboard rack in a proper location and move it whenever necessary.
