This step by step diy woodworking project is about 2×4 toddler swing set plans. I have designed this super simple swing for small children so you can build it in a few days, using just 2×4 boards. You can adjust the size of the swing to suit your needs. This swing set also features a nice climbing wall to one side. See my other woodworking plans HERE.
There are many plans and designs to choose from, so make sure you take a close look over the rest of the garden bridge plans featured on our website. Plan everything with attention and adjust the size and the shape of the bridge to suit your needs. Plumb the legs and make sure the corners are right-angled before inserting the galvanized screws into place. Drill pilot or pocket holes to prevent the wood from splitting.

How to build a toddler swing set
The first step of the project is to cut the legs for the toddler swing set. Therefore, use a miter saw to make the angle cuts to both ends of the legs, as shown in the diagram.
Lay the legs on a level surface and then attach the 2×4 braces, as shown in the plans. Use a niter saw to make 22 degree cuts to both ends of the braces before attaching them to the legs. Align the braces, drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them into place tightly.
Fit the 2×4 slats to the top of the sides, as shown in the plans. Glue the 2 boards together and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them together tightly. Fit the boards into place, drill pilot holes and insert 4 1/2″ screws to lock them together tightly.
Fit the 2×4 slats to one side of the swing set to create a climbing ladder. Place the slats equally spaced, drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to secure them into place.
Use 2×4 lumber for the diagonal braces. Use a saw to make 45 degree cuts at both ends of the braces and then lock them into place with screws. Plumb the sides with a spirit level and make sure the top is horizontal.
Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches for this lemonade stand. Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain to enhance the look of the plant stand and to protect the components from the elements.
You can adjust the size of the swing to suit your needs. Remember this is a swing with a light structure, so it is recommended only for under 5 year old kids.
Attach the hangers to the top beam and then attach the swing. You can buy one or make one, the choice is yours!
