How-to-build-a-barn-shed

From Dan,

Many times we all go to the store and see something we need but the cost is way out of this world. My first thought is “I can do that cheaper if I had the time”. Well this is one of those times. I needed a shed but the price for a nice one that would suit my needs was crazy. I had been quoted $8-10k for the shed I wanted.

Not having done any building since the late 80’s, my wife began the hunt. Then she ran across your plans for the 12 x 16. I thought, wow great detail! I’ve never done one of those roofs before building homes, but this site has everything and gave me the confidence to pick up the hammer once again. With a little more reading and tweaking in my mind, it had everything I had forgotten about and was a wonderful guide to build my lil workshop/shed.

After the dust settled and the grass grew, the final bill unpainted ran around $6k and without the month lead time on the door and weather would have taken me about a week to complete.

What type of lumber did you use? Did you use normal stud lumber for the frame and weather resistant (pressure Treated) for the posts and floor?
